Galicia, Ribiera Sacra

Mencía, Merenzao (Trousseau), Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet), Mouratón, Caiño and Brancellao.
The Castro Candaz project is a collaboration between two of Spain’s most respected winemakers Raúl Pérez, the pioneering talent from Bierzo, and Rodrigo Méndez, known for his expressive coastal wines in Rías Baixas. Together, they explore the cooler, river carved landscapes of Ribeira Sacra, where steep granite and slate slopes yield wines of exceptional delicacy and depth.
In the glass, the wine shows a pale purple hue with a garnet rim. The nose opens with dried red cherry, wild berries, and violet, followed by gentle hints of blue fruit, spice, and dried herbs. On the palate, it is lively and fruit driven, framed by fine, silky tannins and a subtle mineral earthiness. Notes of licorice and black pepper emerge with air, adding complexity to the finish. The 2021 vintage captures the fresh, elegant spirit of Ribeira Sacra, balancing mountain fruit with savory depth and a long, clean finish.
