Tenerife, Canary Islands, SP
90% Listán Blanco
10% Pedro Ximénez
Suertes del Marqués, is located in the Valle de la Orotava on the volcanic island of Tenerife. Founded in 2006, the estate focuses on native grape varieties and employs traditional methods such as the “trenzado” vine training system, which weaves the vines into braided rows to adapt to the steep volcanic terrain. The unique terroir, characterized by nutrient-rich volcanic soils, gives their wines exceptional complexity and minerality.
This wine offered a faint aroma of melon, minerals, and a distinctive hint of sulfur from the volcanic soil. Its reductive style showcased noticeable oak, a robust mineral core, and vibrant complexity. On the palate, rich flavors of peach, pineapple, and a touch of salinity shine through, complemented by a long, full finish. This wine exemplifies the quality and value that the Canary Islands are becoming renowned for, combining tradition with a fresh, modern vibrancy.
