Gaining Important Ground

Brace yourselves for two more fabulous rosé wines to tickle your taste buds! We’ve got one straight outta Napa, CA, and the other hailing all the way from the charming land of Veneto, IT. Now, I know when you think rosé, you automatically picture French regions like Provence, Bandol, and the Loire. But hey, let’s not forget that these wines are crafted with finesse in so many other countries and regions too. It’s a global rosé extravaganza!

Now, let’s take a trip down memory lane to California’s early days of rosé. They decided to shake things up a bit and unleashed the infamous “White Zinfandel” on the unsuspecting world. Ah, those were the days! Remember that craze? It was like syrupy, cheap, and… well, let’s be honest, downright disgusting. But hey, we all have our experimental phases, right? It’s how we learn and grow!

Back in the day, most of California’s wine vineyards were swarming with Zinfandel grapes. They were everywhere! So, the brilliant Dr. David Bruce saw an opportunity amidst this grape glut and decided to create some rosé magic. They needed something to sip on while they planted new vines and waited for them to bear fruit. And voilà, the California rosé revolution was born!

Fast forward 40 years, and rosé has made a comeback, but this time it’s strutting its stuff in a much more elegant manner. Enter Carpenter Wines, the masterminds behind the Carpenter Rosé White Zinfandel. A pale salmon-colored dry rosé that’ll make your taste buds dance with joy. It’s packed with luscious stone fruit flavors and has the kind of mouthwatering acidity that’ll leave you begging for more. This wine is a far cry from the old-school “white zin” of the past, my friends. It’s a new era of rosé deliciousness!

Oh, and did I mention it’s 13.4% ABV and small-scale production, only 125 cases of this gem from Mendocino County. So get it while it’s hot (the weather that is)

Finally, we opened a beautiful Garnacha from Spain that I highly recommend, albeit out of the under $20 range, its worth the added expense and to be saved and savored with family and friends.
