Spain, Valencia, El Terrerazo
Vino de Pago
100% Bobal
Certified Organic

Founded in 1999 by visionary winemaker Toni Sarrión, Bodega Mustiguillo has helped transform Bobal from a little known workhorse grape into one of Spain’s most compelling expressions of terroir. The organically farmed estate is situated at over 800 meters on limestone rich soils near Utiel. In 2010, it became the first Vino de Pago in Spain’s Mediterranean region. Spain’s highest vineyard designation, Vino de Pago recognizes exceptional single estates with distinctive terroir, and Mustiguillo is now a member of the prestigious Grandes Pagos de España.

The 2017 vintage marks a stylistic refinement for Finca Terrerazo. Individual vineyard parcels were vinified separately using native yeasts, gentler extraction, and larger format French oak, resulting in a wine of greater freshness, precision, and elegance that allows the character of its old vine Bobal to shine.

After a 30 minute decant, the wine reveals an inky ruby color with remarkable depth. The nose is immediately expressive, offering ripe blackberry, plum, cherry, and cassis layered with notes of dates, dried figs, dark chocolate, and a subtle Port inspired richness. Savory spices, cedar, and well integrated oak add further complexity, while a faint touch of bottle development hints at its maturity. On the palate, it is full bodied and intensely flavored, yet beautifully poised. A creamy texture carries dense layers of dark fruit, spice, and oak, balanced by lively acidity that keeps the wine vibrant despite its richness. Deep, polished tannins have softened gracefully with age, leading to a long, spicy finish that lingers with both power and elegance. Drinking beautifully now, this is a wine that rewards decanting and showcases just how compelling old vine Bobal can be.

This is a superb expression of modern Bobal: structured, complex, and refined. While drinking beautifully after nearly a decade in bottle, its balance and acidity suggest a few more years of graceful evolution.
