100% Trousseau
Jura, Arbois
The Jura, is a small wine region in eastern France nestled between Burgundy and Switzerland and is known for its unique terroir and distinctive native grape varieties. Among these are “Savagnin”, a white grape celebrated for producing the region’s iconic vin jaune (yellow wine), a nutty, oxidative wine aged under a veil of yeast. The red varieties include “Poulsard” and ‘Trousseau”, both producing light, aromatic wines with earthy and spicy notes, characteristic of the Jura’s rustic style. The region’s climate and limestone-rich soils contribute to the distinctive expression of these native grapes, making Jura wines a fascinating exploration for any wine lover.
In the glass, the wine appears pale red with a brickish hue. Aromas of raspberry and rhubarb are complemented by earthy, mossy undertones. The palate is light-bodied yet packed with vibrant raspberry and strawberry flavors, driven by ripe acidity that lifts the fruit forward. The finish is zippy, juicy, and fruity, a touch of herbal barnyard, and a distinct minerality. This is a fun, highly drinkable wine!
