Jose Luis Ripa, Rioja Vino Rosado, 2019

Jose Luis Ripa, Rioja Vino Rosado, 2019 (La Rioja Alta)

Here’s some history: José Luis Ripa is married to María José López de Heredia—yes, that López de Heredia! José and María are dedicated solely to making Rioja Rosado.

The wine is a subtle, savory blend of 60% Garnacha and 40% Tempranillo, released with some bottle age. It features flavors of redcurrant, wild strawberry, nutmeg, and cinnamon, complemented by subtle oak spices and a hint of cool forest. The bouquet is bright, classy, and complex, with aromas of strawberries, watermelon, orange peel, salty soil tones, Rioja brown spices, oak, and dried rose petals. On the palate, the wine is crisp, full-bodied, complex, and impeccably balanced, with a fine core of fruit, minerality, and grip, impressive focus, and a long, vibrant, and elegant finish. This is exceptional Rosado!
