Cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron produce benchmark Sancerre from organically and biodynamically farmed single vineyards. Recently, they completed a new cellar dedicated to making red wine – yes, red Sancerre – which deserves recognition. Their flagship Pinot Noir, Belle Dame, is a favorite among Burgundy collectors, consistently impressing with its underlying power and delicacy. In short, you will never be disappointed by this estate.
The Vacheron Sancerre Rouge 2020 was released early rather than spending a year in the bottle. Early tastings were so promising that it was decided to release it ahead of schedule. One would expect a deep ruby red, but bottle the colot was more muted, offering a full, silky, and elegant style. The wine features floral and red fruit aromas with hints of tea and savory notes. The well-textured tannins leave one very satisfied and wanting more. It’s a perfect bottle for a special occasion.
