Ca’n Verdura “Supernova” Rosat 2022

Balearic Islands, Mallorca
100% mantonegro

Ca’n Verdura Viticultores is a ground-breaking garage-winery founded by Tomeu Llabrés. Specializing in what he describes as “viticultura en miniatura,” the winery focuses on the search and recovery of historic Mallorquín vineyards and grape varieties. In 2012, Tomeu established his micro-winery in a former auto garage in the center of the ancient village of Binissalem, located in the north-central part of Mallorca. Through a steadfast focus on saving old vineyards and indigenous grape varieties, Tomeu has demonstrated the incredible potential of the island, creating some of the Balearic region’s most ground-breaking wines.

The Supernova Rosat is a limited production (250 cases) rosé wine produced from the red mantonegro grape, indigenous to the Binissalem region of Mallorca. These grapes are grown in “call vermell soils” (a clayey, red-colored soil) consisting of iron-rich clays and limestone with small and medium-sized pebbles. Supernova Rosat originates from a plot of 25-year-old, bush-trained mantonegro vines.

Brilliant orange-rose in color and very fragrant, this Mediterranean rosé is medium-bodied, with notes of wild red berries, citrus, fresh herbs, and exotic spices. It is fresh and juicy on the palate, with medium acidity that is lively and crisp, very savory, and has an herbal finish. A perfect summer sipper.
