I can’t remember the last time I drank Washington wine, but it has come a long way since then. This particular wine was introduced to me by my sister and partner, who were kind enough to send a whole variety of wines from this Washington producer.
Based on what I have read, Jarrod and Ali Boyle, founders of the winery, are passionately committed to producing small-batch, handcrafted wines from their Destiny Ridge Estate Vineyard. Their dedication to quality is evident in every step of the process, from meticulous vineyard management and balanced crop levels to gentle hand-harvesting and thoughtful winemaking. Located in the heart of the Horse Heaven Hills, the 327-acre estate vineyard sits high on the bluffs overlooking the majestic Columbia River. The unique soils and elevated terrain provide an ideal environment for the grapes to thrive. Jarrod oversees the winemaking process, carefully nurturing the fruit from bud to bottle, guided by the belief that exceptional quality starts in the vineyard.
It’s quite the blend, made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon, along with Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. The color is a deep ruby, with a lovely nose of black plum, coffee, blackberry, and a touch of minerality. On the palate, it is full-bodied with ripe fruit, yet approachable in structure. The balance is impressive, offering expressive tones and dark layers without feeling overbearing. It’s a wine that is effortlessly enjoyable.
