Sojourn Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2020

The grapes for this wine are carefully selected from three renowned vineyard sites in the Sonoma Coast region – Sangiacomo, Durell, and Gap’s Crown. The objective is to craft a cuvée that truly reflects the exceptional character of the Chardonnay grape across the Sonoma Coast appellation. In 2020, these diverse vineyards yielded lighter crops due to drought conditions, yet each contributed a wealth of robust flavors. The expressive bouquet offers enticing notes of stone fruit and apple, leading to a palate enriched with a captivating interplay of depth and vibrancy. The fermentation process, utilizing 30% new French oak barrels, imparts a luxurious texture and complex character to the wine.

It had been a while since I last enjoyed a Chardonnay, and I stumbled upon this bottle that I had acquired during a tasting that Laurie seemed to appreciate. Its appearance is a delicate yellow-gold with a hint of peach on the nose. The wine greets the palate with a velvety, oak-driven richness, complemented by subtle notes of lemon and ginger. The finish leaves a bright and lingering spice on the palate.

$35.
