2022 Domaine Serge Laloue Sancerre Rosé

I found this wine on sale at the local coop.

A lusciously smooth and well-balanced rosé unfolds with layers of wild strawberry and kiwi, complemented by nuances of watermelon and grapefruit, all exuding a fresh and pure fruit essence. This intricately textured rosé reveals a captivating complexity, interweaving citrus tones of orange and grapefruit with delicate hints of peach and floral accents. The finish is harmoniously balanced, showcasing the fruit’s pristine clarity.

Situated five kilometers south of Sancerre in Thauvenay, the estate was founded by Serge Laloue in the 1960s. Since the 1990s, Christine and her brother Franck have continued their father’s legacy, while Franck’s son, Clément, recently joined the domain after completing viticulture studies. Embracing an environmentally responsible ethos, the estate practices meticulous vineyard care to honor the natural equilibrium of the vines and yield grapes of the utmost quality. Transitioning towards organic farming, with certification expected for the 2023 vintage, reflects the domain’s steadfast commitment to sustainable practices. Additionally, the domain holds HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, further underscoring its dedication to environmental biodiversity and responsible resource management.
