2020 Domaine de Colette Régnié Sélection Vieilles Vignes

Burgundy > Beaujolais 100% Gamay

They start by selectively sorting the grape crop on a sorting table, ensuring only the finest grapes are used. If necessary, they perform thinning or “green harvest” to optimize quality. Their wine is made from grapes sourced from the oldest vines on their estate, with one particular plot boasting vines over 80 years old. They adhere to traditional Beaujolais methods, keeping the bunches whole throughout vinification.

After the grapes are carefully sorted, they are put into vats using gravity. They allow for 10 days of vatting before de-vatting with a conveyor belt and pneumatic pressing. Following this process, the wine matures in concrete vats for 8 months before bottling.

Through this meticulous approach, they craft an aromatic wine with supple and silky tannins, showcasing the unique character of their vineyard and terroir.

Colette’s Old Vine release exemplifies the forward, explosive aromas characteristic of Regnié and Colette itself. Its attractive ruby-red color catches the eye, followed by delightful notes of raspberry, strawberry, and roses. The wine is spot-on for drinking right now, boasting a great color, nose, and ripe fruit flavors.
